Public Speaking – Stand Strong

Public Speaking – The Strength of Your Stance Shows the Strength of Your Message

One of the easy public speaking tips I share with my clients gives them an amazing amount of strength when speaking. In this 90 second video I show you how you too can use it.

G’day! Darren Fleming from executivespeaking.com.au, coming to you from the top of the beautiful range in Toowoomba, Queensland. It’s normally a lot clearer than this, but there’s a bit of smoke about.

Just been up here working with a client on the new iLead program I’ve put together. You’re going to see a lot of this over the next 12 months. We were talking about how you position yourself as a leader so others want to listen to what it is you’ve got to say and follow your message.

These guys, they give a big-time presentation to the board each year – it’s some stressful public speaking. These are solid people who aren’t the style… the type of people who normally wear suits and have to go in and position themselves to the board and give a presentation on what it is they’ve done for the last 12 months and what it is they plan to do for the next 112 months.

One of the techniques we looked at was the strength of your stance. How do you own your message in such a way so that the audience you’re presenting to believe what it is you’re talking about. This is part of the Language of Leadership program, one of the modules that’s part of the iLead program. And what it’s saying, what we went through and looked at is the strength of your stance shows the strength of your message. The stronger you stand, the more believable, the more powerful you are. If you sit there, you fidget, you don’t look people in the eye, you look weak and you come across in a way that causes people to second-guess what it is you’re saying, it may entice them to question what it is you’re saying. And when you’re the leader, when you’re under a tough situation, you want to come across as strong as you possibly can.

That’s just one of the many techniques I share with my clients in the Language of Leadership module that’s part of my iLead program. There is a focus on public speaking in this program

Love to hear your thoughts on the language of leadership and how the strength of your stance shows the strength of your message. Pop your comments in down below, and would love to start a conversation on how you can be more powerful when it is you’re delivering your message.

I’m driving back to Brisbane now, it’s way over there through the smoke of the horizon. Then I’m on a plane tonight, over to Perth to work tomorrow, to meet the state manager over there with his client. And then on Monday, it’s it in Adelaide to work with the state manager there. Fantastic teaching them all this stuff.

Speak to you soon. Cheers. Bye.
